Quick tips for Connections

#1: Speak the clue words aloud, taking a pause before and after each one. This assists in hearing the words within the context of a phrase. The Connections editors enjoy grouping words that are used in similar expressions, such as ____ Up.

#2: Avoid the straightforward groupings. These editors are knowledgeable. There was a time when they presented SPONGE, BOB, SQUARE, and PANTS in the same puzzle. None of these words belonged to the same category. If you'd like, press the "shuffle" button to gain a new viewpoint on the words.

#3: Separate any compound words and identify commonalities. "Rushmore" was part of a puzzle where the link was that each word began with the name of a rock band.
